Christmas feels like a distant memory, and we’re already several weeks into the new decade. Before we know it, the February Half Term break will be on us. Although the dates can vary around the UK, most schools will be closed for the week commencing Monday 17th February.
Looking for ideas for what to do with the kids during half term in Cornwall? We’ve got some suggestions that will keep the whole family happy.
Little kids and big kids alike always enjoy spending time in nature. Cornwall has a whole host of activities to keep everyone entertained – visit the fields of snowdrops on a childrens trail at Trelissick, meet pirates with real parrots at Paradise Park or enjoy activities and special animal encounters at Newquay Zoo.
Step Back in Time
Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is offering the chance to get Hands on With History during February Half Term, featuring sword fights, storytelling and more. Or perhaps you want to go even further back, to the prehistoric era? The Eden Project near St Austell has treasure hunts and cave drawings galore as part of their work alongside the Early Man film, from the creators of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.
Little hands love a challenge, and if you make your way down to the Tate Gallery St Ives during February Half Term you’ll have the chance to get involved with their Tate Create sessions. Falmouth Art Gallery is also running free Family Art Workshops, such as silkscreen printing and collage making.
The exciting ‘Science of The Sea’ shows will be running during February Half Term at the National Maritime Museum, featuring interactive experiments and demonstrations. If you’re keen to get out on the water, Koru Kayaking run their guided kayaking adventures all year round, and you could even book one of our beautiful charter yachts.
