Scattering Ashes at Sea

Saying goodbye to a loved one can be an incredibly difficult experience. However, being able to follow their final wishes, or to have an opportunity to bring family and friends together for the final farewell, can also mean a chance for healing, bonding and moving forward.

If you are considering scattering the ashes of a family member or friend at sea around Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly or further afield, Bowman Yacht Charters offer a private, peaceful and comforting service, tailored around your exact requirements.

We have 3 private yachts to choose from, moored on our easy-to-access pontoon in Falmouth, Cornwall. We can provide a qualified, experienced skipper who will welcome you aboard, respect your privacy and space and sail to your chosen destination, so your family and friends can focus on private time to honour your loved one. Alternatively, you can charter one of our yachts to sail yourself.

Once at sea, you will have the time to say goodbye in your own way. Often guests read poetry or prayers, and you may like to have some special music playing. We can also provide refreshments if you wish to toast and commemorate your loved one, once the scattering ceremony is completed.

If you are interested in scattering ashes at sea, speak to a member of our team to find out more about our personalised, individual service. We always take the time to listen to your preferences beforehand and find out exactly what you want for your time onboard, with respect for everything you’re going through and consideration for your wishes.

Although we know we cannot do anything to alleviate the pain of losing a loved one, we can offer an appropriate, private and special way to honour their passing. Many of our guests have told us that scattering ashes at sea can be a healing experience and a way to move forward together

“I can not praise the skipper of Bowman Yachts enough for his kindness and understanding during this difficult journey. The yacht was beautiful, the wood immaculate and the food looked delicious (I wasn’t really hungry) I would definitely love to take a trip with them again this time for pleasure.”
