Tips When Chartering a Yacht

So you want to try a break with a difference and charter a yacht to explore Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly or beyond, but not sure about the next step?

At Bowman Yacht Charters we have extensive experience helping our clients create the perfect charter package to suit them, however there are a few things you might want to consider before you charter a yacht, just to make sure your whole group enjoys the very best experience.

First up, just how many guests are there going to be in your party? This will help you decide what size charter is going to be right for you. Then have a think about the sleeping arrangements – some individuals may not feel comfortable sharing a cabin if they’re not with their partner, or would prefer not to be in bunk beds.

What do you want to get out of your trip? Maybe you’re keen to do some sightseeing of waterside villages and exploring of hidden coves? Or do you want to brush up on your sailing skills further away from the shore? We can recommend a variety of routes and destinations depending on your preferences.

You will also want to decide whether a skippered charter or bareboat option is right for you. With a skipper, all the sailing and navigation is taken care of, leaving you free to get involved as little or as much as your like. Those who are more experienced may prefer a bareboat charter where you are responsible for everything on the boat, leaving you free to set your own agenda.

Once you have some ideas, you can speak to one of our experienced team who can help you design your charter package. We can build a schedule based on your exact requirements and budget, and explain how we can accommodate any particular requests such as dietary requirements or support for members of your group with any additional needs.
