Bowman Yacht Chaters

What to expect when you book a Bowman Yacht Charter

Here at BYC we like to make booking a yacht charter as easy and straightforward as possible for you, so you can relax and enjoy your experience of setting sail with us in Cornwall. We thought we’d run through what to expect from your Cornish yacht charter experience from the charter booking process to the extra details to remember on the day.

Yacht Charter Booking Process

You can book your yacht charter easily on our online booking page on our website, please see the options below for the choice of charters we offer.

Week Charters 1700hrs Friday – 1200hrs Friday
Weekend Charters 1700hrs Friday – 1700hrs Sunday
Midweek Charters 1200hrs Monday – 1200hrs Friday
Single Day Charters 0900hrs – 1700hrs
Extra Day Charters 0900hrs – 1700hrs either side of weekend

Once you have chosen your yacht charter duration, you will then be able to choose from our range of yachts suitable for your party size and then select the dates of your choice on the calendar. We offer a range of additional extras you can opt for at this stage, such as sleeping bags, a skipper or an outboard engine, and then you proceed through to confirm your yacht charter booking. We like to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your charter requirements, and at any point you can discuss details with our charter team in advance.

Booking confirmation for your Yacht Charter

Once you have made your booking, you will receive a confirmation email which will include all the important information for your booking, such as dates and times, your type of yacht charter and what’s included. We do not take a deposit for skippered yacht charter bookings, however, if you’ve booked a bareboat charter with us you’ll be required to pay a security deposit of £1200 before your charter booking.

The full balance of your charter must be paid 28 days before the date of your booking, if you have more than 28 days until your yacht charter booking, you’ll be given the option to pay a 25% deposit and then to pay the remaining balance.

Information we need from you

We will get in touch with different information regarding your skipper charter or bareboat charter booking and ask you for relevant details. For example, if you haven’t booked a bareboat charter with us, we will require proof of your qualifications and your ability to sail a yacht. You will need to upload sailing certificates and your bareboat charter agreement – you will receive this information in plenty of time before your charter booking date.

What to expect on the day of your yacht charter in Cornwall

You will receive emails from the BYC team confirming your bareboat handover, or who is skippering your charter, as well as when and where you are to meet our team member. This is usually at our base in Falmouth where our yachts are moored. We will ensure you are really clear about what you need to bring with you and what’s provided, with details such as the best local parking options. All your safety equipment, lifejackets and harnesses are included as standard. If you have chosen a skippered charter, soft drinks and snacks onboard will be provided by your skipper.

The next part depends on whether you have booked a skippered yacht charter break, or a bareboat yacht charter. If you have one of our skippers on board, they’ll take charge of everything as you set sail, with you and your guests able to get involved as much or as little as you like. If you’ve booked a bareboat charter from our marina in Falmouth, the wide open sea is yours to navigate and enjoy for the duration of your booking 🙂

Yacht charter rules and safety

At the start of your yacht charter your yacht will be clean and ready to sail, with full tanks of fuel and water and sufficient gas for the duration of your charter. As part of our agreement you’ll know that we would like you to return the yacht in the same condition -, clean, tidy, and with refilled tanks. Safety whilst afloat is a priority of ours – all our yachts have passed stringent checks by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and carry lifejackets, harnesses, liferafts, flares and other safety equipment items.

We will give you a comprehensive briefing on the yacht and its equipment at the point of handover. If you have any equipment questions prior to your charter booking, our team is always happy to help..

Full terms and conditions of our yacht charters

We always want to be as clear and open as possible about all the terms and conditions relating to your yacht charter booking. That’s why you can find all extra information and details for your yacht charter in our terms and conditions.

We also have a Covid Management Plan 2022 for your consideration..
